Death of a Trotskyist … In Memory of Nathan Sivasambu

It was October 23rd, two days before the Centenary of the Revolution. The black and white photo of Leon Davidov Trotsky looked down from his ebony frame on the sitting room cum study wall. This version of Trotsky was unsmiling: stern – very much Creator of the Red Army, Hero of the Revolution. The photo had been taken in the early 1920’s, in St. Petersburg, when it was still called Petrograd.

Colossal Flaws in Ukrainian Propaganda Pitch

An Observer in a Black Sea Resort Town

Here is an Ukranian propaganda film showing well-fed soldiers, wearing clean uniforms, who haven’t seen fighting, in a pristine location, with each soldier putting their forefinger to their mouth indicating “keep silent”, somewhat reminiscent of a British WW2 propaganda poster that reads, “Careless talk costs lives”. The quietness of the location in the film is emphasised by the sounds of birds and gunfire in the distance.

Thanks Judge, I can’t believe how naive I was even ten years ago. I had to stop work with ill health and it was then I had the time to educate myself in the mendacity of the Western powers i.e. USA, UK, EU and NATO. Once your eyes have been opened you can never go back!

Extraordinary dialog by Judge Napolitano with critical questions on the origin of the Ukraine problem and Scott Horton valuable knowledge of the facts of U.S. intervention since the 1990’s. This conversation should be divulged as much as possible an answer to all who claim Russia was “unprovoked”. Scott coming book will be very important to read.

This is a very good interview in English with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the G20 in India on 4 March 2023, though the Indian interviewee was annoying in the way he kept cutting Lavrov off before he could finish answering a question.

Lavrov sets out the context and history of Russia security concerns that led to the war in Ukraine, how the US does business with countries in the Global South by bullying these countries to vote in support of the US in the UN. He also raises the big challenge for the Asia-Pacific, which is not China, but the US, QUAD and AUKUS.

One of the most critical economic partners of Russia amid the unprecedented Western economic sanctions from Washington and the EU over the Ukraine war has been the Indian government of BJP leader Narendra Modi.

In the past several years Modi, playing a delicate balancing act between alliances with Russia and also with the West, has emerged as a vital trade partner of Russia amid the sanctions. Despite repeated efforts by Biden Administration and UK officials, Modi has refused to join sanctions against Russian trade, above all oil trade. Now a series of suspiciously-timed and targeted events suggest that there is an Anglo-American destabilization being launched to topple Modi in the coming months.

Interview with Alexander Khodakovsky, Commander of the Donetsk People’s Republic Battalion giving an update on what is currently occurring on the battlefield. It is not a voice found anywhere in the Western world. In the West, we only get Sir Winston Zelensky and the Ukrainian cheerleaders.  Khodakovsky comes across as rationale, honest, straightforward, professional, and with a curious mixture of humility and a fighting spirit.

While apologists for the governments of Russia or the United States want to focus on some truths to the exclusion of others, the horrific militarism of both countries deserves only opposition.

Russia’s war in Ukraine—like the USA’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq—should be understood as barbaric mass slaughter. For all their mutual hostility, the Kremlin and the White House are willing to rely on similar precepts: Might makes right. International law is what you extol when you aren’t violating it. And at home, rev up the nationalism to go with the militarism.
