One of the two Sri Lankan Tamils arrested last night along with communication gadgets and cyanide in the district has been identified as Krishnakumar, a close associate of slain LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran, police said today. On Monday 20th ex LTTE close associate of Prabakaran and secretary to LTTE leader was arrested by the “Q” branch, when he travelled from Trichy to Ramanathapuram. He was caught with the following: Possession of Krishna Kumar was 75 Cyanide capsules, 300 grams Cyanide, 4 GPS, 8 Mobile phones. 42,200 Indian Rupees and 19,300 SL rupees were confiscated.
Sasikumar was driving the car plus additional two people were inside the car. One is Krishna Kumar (39), and the other Rajendran (44) Krishna Kumar has been isolated and been interrogated. Krishna Kumar is from Alaveddy near Tellipalai.
During the final war, several LTTE cadre left the country and assembled in TN. He has been living in KK Town in Trichy. He is been kept in a special cell and interrogated. It is believed that he was planning to leave for SriLanka by illegal boat. It is also presumed that he may have planned to take the Cyanide capsules to LTTE cadre in Jaffna. It is also assumed that LTTE may be planning to resurrect in SL.

Police said all coastal districts in the state had been alerted to monitor for movement of members of LTTE and checkposts asked to be extra vigilant.

The arrest of an LTTE operative in a southern coastal village of Tamil Nadu, purported to be on his way to the Sri Lanka’s Northern peninsula has sent shock waves among intelligence authorities. The operative was accompanied by two Indian nationals. Army spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera told the Sunday Observer that on the orders of the Defence Secretary, investigations have been initiated by the Army intelligence Unit and the three forces had been placed on a 24-hour alert. He said there would be no compromise on matters of national security.
The Tamil Nadu police on July 19, arrested a suspected LTTE operative, believed to have served as one of the secretaries of slain Tiger leader V. Prabhakaran. According to reports, the detection and arrest had been made during a vehicle check in a coastal village in Ramannathapuram. Two local residents accompanying the operative had also been arrested. According to reports, inquiries had revealed the three men had arranged to cross the Palk Strait to get to Sri Lanka’s Northern peninsula on a mission to revive the decimated militant movement.
The LTTE operative was identified as Krishankumar, 39. His companions were identified as Rajendran and Saikumar.
The police also seized 75 cyanide capsules and 300 gm of cyanide powder along with 4 GPS devices, mobile phones, Indian and Lankan currency. According to the Chennai-based reports, police had confirmed that Krishankumar had earlier stayed in one of the special camps for Sri Lankan refugees where suspected Tigers and LTTE sympathisers are lodged.
Asked for his comments on the matter ex-LTTE combatant now in the democratic mainstream, Rasiah Kirubakaran alias Kadir, told the Sunday Observer the report in question comes at a time when they have chosen the democratic path. He said they have no links whatsoever with such elements and the government authorities should ascertain the veracity of such reports. Kadir is presently the administrative chief of the Crusaders for Democracy (CFD), the political party of the rehabilitated ex-combatants that is contesting the August 17 parliamentary elections from the Jaffna District as an independent group.
