How The War Memorial in Colombo came into Being

The red poppy which s”ymbolizes the blood of war heroes is from the poppy that grows in Flanders, France, a Remembrance Park for the war dead. It was at 11 a.m. on November 11 (- the 11th month) 1918 that the Armistice was signed, bringing to an end the First World War. The war heroes are remembered on the Sunday closest to November 11th at 11 a.m. with two minutes silence and all life comes to a standstill including electronic channels and vehicular movement. In this article I will give you an account of how Sri Lanka’s Flanders – the Remembrance Park at Mailapitiya, off Kandy, came into being.

Gross & Oversimplfied Propaganda Lines in the Australian Press Today

In the Western world, we are taught to believe there are two worlds – a good world and a bad world. There is no in-between. The West is always on the side of good because, we are told, it has “values”, though we are never told what those values are. The word “values” could well relate to the values of colonialism, neocolonialism, liberalism, and exploitation of non-Western societies.

Finally, after twenty years of non-stop propaganda in the Western media, here is an article in British and Australian newspapers that actually contains a nugget of truth, though a very tiny nugget.  The key point to observe is in the final two paragraphs which attempts to suggest why Mr. Picasso painted over the dog. It is an intriguing question.

Cricket in Japan ‘spiked’ by Emerging Lankan Squad

HEADLINE:  “The 15-member Sri Lanka Emerging Squad has been announced for the tour of Japan.”

Former Thomian cricketer Dellon Peiris will lead the touring Sri Lankan contingent. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced that as per a request made by the Japan Cricket Association, Sri Lanka Emerging Team will tour Japan during the month of May 2023. The team will leave for Japan on the 8th May.

Or that time you played ‘pin the tail on the elephant’ or ‘Kana Mutti’ during Avurudhu. Or that time you couldn’t taste your lunch during  -bad flu season. PROLOGUE: Saying “Goodbye” is never easy. The “Goodbyes” I bid to the Staff at Nilaveli Beach Hotel after a relaxed idyllic holiday following the first leg of my tour was hard. This was where I cut my teeth on life’s road and the ties that bind me to this Hotel were, and remain, very strong. But there was a long road ahead, a road I never travelled before. Travice Ondaatjie, whose late Dad Mr. George Ondaatjie was my Boss when I worked for Nilaveli Beach Hotels Limited drove up to Nilaveli on Friday the 24th and told me that on Sunday the 26th March we would leave for Passekudah, Arugam Bay and travel down the Eastern seaboard right down to the Lahuggala National Park in Amparai to visit the archaeological sites there, and then head for Wellawaya and finally to Colombo.

Scott Horton has an amazing podcast… one of the best anti-war voices of our age.
Thanks Judge, I can’t believe how naive I was even ten years ago. I had to stop work with ill health and it was then I had the time to educate myself in the mendacity of the Western powers i.e. USA, UK, EU and NATO. Once your eyes have been opened you can never go back!
It’s a pleasure to see this gentleman back in your show
Extraordinary dialog by Judge Napolitano with critical questions on the origin of the Ukraine problem and Scott Horton valuable knowledge of the facts of U.S. intervention since the 1990’s. This conversation should be divulged as much as possible an answer to all who claim Russia was “unprovoked”. Scott coming book will be very important to read.
