As you may know, Buddhism has traditionally identified three ‘poisons’ that destroy our lives, i.e., greed, hatred, and ignorance. Ignorance refers to the fact that we are unaware of our interdependence with that which we consider to be ‘other’ or ‘not us’. The opposite, or cure, for ignorance is ‘wisdom’, i.e. the awareness that we are not only interdependent but, ultimately, truly ‘one’. Seldom if ever have I seen a video clip that so vividly illustrates the power of wisdom to overcome ignorance! And how desperately this is needed today when, due to the advent of the nuclear age, it is now possible to destroy much of life, beginning with ourselves!

June 20, 2025 ….. Dear Michael,
Many thanks for sharing. In these dark days, that are becoming ever darker, it is beyond inspiring to see a bit of ‘light’ shining threw the clouds, to see that it is possible that ‘truth’ still has the power to dispel ignorance!
If each one of us who received this video will share it with our friends, who in turn do the same, maybe, just maybe, we can begin to pierce the ever darker clouds of ignorance that surround us. No guarantees, I’m afraid, but we can try, not least for the children who were brought into this world by love, not hate, who deserve to have their moment in the sun that those of us alive today have had. Let us try. . .
In friendship, Brian

A NOTE …
Way back when I arrived in Adelaide to teach in the Dept of Anthropology, Adelaide University in 1977, Brian Victoria was teaching Japanese in the Asian Studies Department. Brian moved abroad subsequently but we have been in intermittent touch. That he dips into items in my web site THUPPAHIS.COM indicates his width of interest.
