South Africa snaffle Cricket Title at Lords

This important 50-over ODI final was not available on TV in Adelaide, so I am not able to comment as a watcher. Harry Solomons in Sydney has suggested that the Aussies may have been too overconfident. I do not buy into that speculation.

Without reading any reviews I  speculate (A) that batting conditions were difficult; (B) that South Africa winning the toss and deciding to field was a crucial factor; (C) that Chris Broad’s presence as an Advisor in the Saf firmament was central to that decision; (D) that Aiden Markram outshone everone else in the batting department with his century of 126 runs; while (E) we should also acknowledge Captain Bavuma’s two batting contributions — 36 in Innings One and 66 in the second innings.

What Kolesi did for Rugby Bavuma has done for Cricket in South Africa . In his partnership with Markram he controlled it by preventing his partner from being too extravagant
