Today at the UN Security Council, a draft resolution put forward by Algeria calling for a ceasefire in Gaza was vetoed by the US
The votes were 13 in favour
1 opposed (US)
1 abstaining (UK,)
After the vote the US Ambassador to the UN explained why the US voted against the resolution. She said, 1) a resolution calling for a ceasefire would not achieve a ceasefire (Really?), and
2) the US believes “quiet diplomacy” is a far more effective method in this instance.
Ha Ha Huh! … the same “quiet diplomacy” the US has been engaged in since October 10 that has allowed Israel to destroy every building in Gaza and bring about over 100 000 Palestinian casualties comprising 30,000 dead and 70,000 wounded.
The US Ambassador then stated they will submit their own draft resolution which she believes will achieve a ceasefire. She indicated two clauses of the resolution that would achieve a ceasefire are:
1) condemn Hamas for the Oct 10 attacks and
2) Hamas must immediately release all hostages.
This type of resolution is about making a political statement and will not do anything to bring about a ceasefire, nor will it facilitate humanitarian aid, and so the US resolution will fail.
Worse still, pursuing a US style “Quiet Diplomacy” is a much better option as it will ensure the final solution to the Palestinian problem which aims to destroy Palestine as a nation and to continue the slaughter of another hundred thousand Palestinians, or even two million.

It is the US, UK & German bombs, planes, tanks & artillery that is killing the innocent babies, women & children of Palestine for the past 75 years. Unless a just and fair solution is found, the problem will go on for at least another century until the US is no more a superpower and then all the Jews will get kicked out and Israel will become Palestine again but with not a single Jew.
