The Ceylon Cricket Teams in 1947 and 1948: Two Iconic Photographs

The CEYLON TEAM in 1947 

I require aid in identifying all those presented here but begin by naming FC de Saram and M. Sathasivam as the two seated with their pads on.

 

 

An year or so later, when the Australian team that toured England under Bradman’s leadeership played a whistle-stop one day match at the Colombo Oval there is a classic snap of the tea walking out to field …..

 

 

 

 

 

 

These initial ‘snaps’ of a bygone era must be supplemented by other classics depicting earlier vists by the Australians, by that classic shot of Fc deSaram batting for Oxford University in the mid-1930s when he made a  century agaisnt the touring Aussies and other scenarios from the 1948 encounter.
