Richard Koenigsberg
I’ve attended, lectured, and presented papers at more than seventy conferences during the last thirty years. During this period, I interacted with and eventually published papers from some of the greatest scholars in the world, including Michael Geyer, Walter Skya, Scott Atran, Omer Bartov, Kelly Denton-Borhaug, Michael Vlahos, Stephen Fritz, Roger Griffen, Jeffrey Herf, Nancy Kobrin, Mark Levene, Jordan Peterson, Robert Proctor and James Tyner.
You’ve read papers and articles by many of these great scholars on the Foundation for the Study of Political Pathology website. You may be familiar with many of the scholars mentioned above.
There is one scholar, however with whom I’ve interacted—you may not be familiar with him. He’s from the other side of the world. Michael Roberts (click here) can be described as a historical anthropologist. His work engages the political relations of power and straddles the disciplines of Politics, Sociology, Anthropology and History.
Michael is one of the most powerful thinkers I’ve had the good fortune of interacting with. Please follow his writing on Thuppahi’s Blog.

Congratulations Michael on this recognition and applause for your voluminous body of work on a myriad of subjects, which I absolutely and sincerely endorse.
Michael, you are by far one of the best Historians, a product of Peradeniya U. I have been following your works since my days as your younger colleague in Peradeniya with whom you were generous enough to share your notes, and at one time I benefited a lot from your own teaching material meticulously researched and compiled – related to our course “Nationalism and it’s problems. ” More importantly you are a most published authors in Sri Lanka, your compilation and edition SL LegCo material and biographical accounts of leading Karawe entrepreneurs stand peerless, not to speak of articles published in highly acclaimed international journals. You have been my role model, but I never matched your creativity, originality, and research skills.
What a great feat now you are performing through your Thuppahi site, a vibrant medium of relentless pursuit of knowledge sharing. Long live Michael and your devotion to History, anthropology and Sri Lanka Studies etc., etc.,
