Brinkmanship at the Heights! Nuclear War Looming!

LISTEN TO SERBIAN PRESIDENT SPEAKING …. https://x.com/Anatolia_Today/status/1802467510886797508

Aleksandar Vučić believes we are just a few months away from a big #war between #West and #Russia: “We are now approaching a big disaster… Who is ready to lose 1, 2, 5 or 15 million people? I’m not, but that’s a question for other people”

A Reference sent to TPS by “Observer in a Black Sea Town” with the following set of thoughts : “Here, Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic, in an interview with a Swiss channel, shares his view that the world is approaching “a big disaster within 3 to 4 months” as neither Russia nor the US/NATO are prepared to back down.  Each side believes they can win. Each side believes the other side is bluffing. Each side believes that escalation is the only pathway forward.

If Putin loses the war, Russia will cease to exist. Putin will not let that happen so the risk of nuclear war, provoked entirely by the US/NATO, is now more than just a possibility.
The two sides are far apart. Everything is at stake. No side wants to lose.  The West have lost the will to prevent a global war.
Vucic talks about as many 15 million being killed. He says Serbia wants no part of it.”

The meeting between the NK leader and Putin could be read in many ways, but does not bode well for peace.
As long as the Arms Dealers remain a thriving and well organised business to be the biggest in the world (who wants to forego the enormous profits) real peace will undoubtedly be a pipedream with the importance given cost of life and limb being relegated to the ‘ unimportant ‘. Hegemonism has become the operative word and the narrative could only be horrific.
    Oh Tempora!

The assumption in the first comment is that meetings between Western leaders do bode well for peace. I do not think NATO/US forming alliances to surround and gang up on China, North Korea or Russia bodes well for peace.

What matters most for states is survival. Today, countries like Russia, China, Iran and North Korea regard the US and NATO to be an existential threat to their survival, and in such circumstances it is natural for these countries to respond to threats to ensure their survival, just as the US and EU countries do.

Seen from another perspective, the new Russia-North Korea strategic partnership acts as a counterbalance or deterrence to threats from the US and NATO, and that does bode well for peace. Western countries use the same methods to achieve deterrence.

When Western leaders call for the breakup of Russia and China, it is natural for these states to respond to such threats to ensure their survival. That’s why Russia went to war in Ukraine because of NATO expansion which threatens Russia’s survival. And that is what Putin and Kim Jong-un have achieved through a strategic partnership. Of course the US are trying to create a narrative of it being a threat to peace, but in fact it is designed to to ensure their survival and therefore peace. The most dangerous country on the planet today is the United States.

Poland’s foreign minister Sikorski and Estonia’s prime minister Kaja Kallas have both called for the breakup of Russia, which is an extremely foolish thing to do. Whatever one thinks of Putin, the core objective of Russia (like any state) is to survive so when Western leaders make such stupid threats, it is perfectly natural for Russia to respond in whatever way it deems necessary to counter such threats. These days every time a Western leader opens their mouth, it doesn’t bode well for peace.

How did he arrive at the figure of fifteen million? Shear speculation?

  3. Wijit Dharmawardene

Every one is speculating, as nobody has previously experienced a nuclear war – with both sides armed with nuclear weapons.

The number fifteen million was obviously thrown in by Vucic, to emphasize the enormity of what could happen.
Let us hope that both sides realize the gravity of what could happen, and that good sense prevails.

Pushing a button is more impersonal than pulling a trigger. The act seems to evade our strongest instinct – self preservation.
General Power, SAC chief, was hell bent on starting a nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. ‘If there are two of us and
    one of them, we win’.
Since, brinkmanship on the part of the Americans has brought us full circle. NATO in Ukraine is a Russian red line.
Faced with an existential threat, Russia has promised nuclear deterrence if conventional weapons fail.
The West has designated Ukraine the sacrificial lamb. Will a Russian nuclear strike ignite a nuclear holocaust?
Unlikely, only a direct attack on the West will elicit retaliation. Ukraine’s incineration will be used to blacken Russia – forever an international pariah.
Since the neocons ( mostly Jewish) took control of US foreign policy the brinkmanship is more nuanced.

Take World War 11 for example where estimates vary from 35 million to some 75 million people who died, Inclusive of about 20 million military personnel and 40 million civilians, as a result of deliberate genocide, massacres, mass bombings, diseases and starvation.

The world has grown exponentially since then, so no one could provide a definite number, as it also depends on whom partakes in the war should it occur.

  6. A NOTE from The EDITOR THUPPAHI, SATURDAY 15 June 2024:

Responding to the commentsthus far, THE BLACK SEA OBSERVER has this to say: “Vucic wasn’t speculating about numbers. He was saying whether it is one death, 2 million, five, ten or 15 million, it is not worth it. Obviously, he is not speculating on numbers. Wijit Dharmawardene makes that point well and I agree with his view. Arelenvanderwall also makes very worthwhile points with which I concur.

The language of political leaders today over Russia and China is the same kind of retarded language that got the world into WW1, So Vucic’s comment is especially pertinent given Serbia’s part of that story. The Austro-Hungarian empire imposed ridiculous ultimatums on Serbia in response to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914. The Emperor knew Serbia would reject their ultimatums which was the trigger for WW1. Once the Kaiser gave the Austro-Hungarian emperor full support for a war against Serbia, the war was on. Countries began taking sides and we saw the same language as I gave in my original note being used throughout Europe. The Serbians thought the Emperor was bluffing. The Kaiser thought the Russians were bluffing. The Brits thought the Kaiser was bluffing. Each side thought they could win the war, and had a moral obligation to to win the war, and so each side pushed escalation as the only pathway forward to ultimate victory. In the end, WW1 saw the collapse of four empires, namely – the Russian, German, Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires. Who can tell which empires will fall this time round? But one thing is for sure, they will fall. THIS could well include the EU, NATO and the US empires. The lessons of war are well-known, but apparently not to the stupid fucking people that run the world.”
