2) AN INVITATION TO ATTEND AND SUPPORT A MELBOURNE-BASED FAMILY FUN DAY , INCLUDING GAMES AND SPORTS, ON NOVEMBER 13 , THIS IS ALSO AN OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR FIRST HAND FROM BRIDGING LANKA’S JEREMY LIYANAGE OF THE SITUATION IN SRI LANKA AND HOW BRIDGING LANKA IS WORKING TO SUPPORT THE PEOPLE OF MANNAR , IN NORTH WEST SRI LANKA., YOU CAN ALSO MEET LAFIR MOHAMED, AUSTRALIAN VOLUNTEERS’ PROGRAM MANAGER FOR SRI LANKA

A message to Sri Lankan diaspora organisations,
The Australian Volunteers Program is the Australian Government’s flagship global volunteering program, supporting partner organisations across 26 countries in the Asia Pacific region including Sri Lanka, to achieve locally-led change and realise the Sustainable Development Goals.(SDGs)
Lafir Mohamed, ,Australian Volunteers’ Program Manager for Sri Lanka, will be visiting Melbourne between 9 November and 17 November and wishes to meet Sri Lankan diaspora organisations who may be interested in the Program and discuss opportunities for members who may wish to learn about how they can share their skills remotely to assist Sri Lankan organisations in-country who are currently facing extreme difficulty, especially in skills shortages around academic (Language and university subjects), teaching, skills development, rehabilitation, tourism , etc.
Sri Lankan diaspora are warmly welcome to meet Lafir at our online introductory session on Thursday 10 November 2022 6pm-7pm (As stated above there is also the opportunity to meet Lafir for some follow-up information and socialising at the Bridging Lanka. However, those interested in potentially offering their skills to support Sri Lankan organisations are urged to first attend the zoom explanatory session on November 10. )
