The International Masters Cricket Over-60s tournament got underway in Toronto, Canada, yesterday, with a strong Sri Lankan side hoping to make its mark against some of the best Masters teams in the world. Sri Lanka have been drawn in Group ‘A’ alongside defending champions Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, Wales and hosts Canada.
Group ‘B’ comprises England, New Zealand, India, USA, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Scotland.

Teams in each group will play every opponent once, with the top two sides advancing to the semi-finals. All matches are 45-over contests, while the final is scheduled for August 23. The games are also being livestreamed on YouTube.
Adding further prestige to the tournament, celebrated former international umpires Billy Bowden and Steve Bucknor will officiate in some of the matches.
The Sri Lankan Masters side boasts considerable experience, with the squad comprising players who represented their respective schools with distinction at First XI level. Several of them also captained their school teams.
