The rumour mill is busy at work with DDS expected to retain the test captaincy and Kusal Mendis all but appointed to lead the two white ball squads – and lately, news that Kamindu Mendis is being considered as vice captain of the test and T20 sides. Which leaves the job of deputy of the ODI team pending, with Charith or Pathum being frontrunners to fill it?

First, it is a good sign that Sri Lanka is at long last ready to appoint vice captains as that hasn’t been the norm in recent years for reasons unknown.
However, in the absence of any news to the contrary, it would appear that the selectors are keeping their jobs – despite the public outcry for change.
So Sri Lankan cricket fans will continue to have to be patient in the hope that more heads will roll – because we have a chance to make the final of the 2025-27 World Test Championship next year (No. 4 ain’t a bad place to be), if we’re are starting afresh.
Hope springs eternal, as they say
