Take in what John Mearsheimer has to say NOW about the Middle-Eastern Warfronts and Political situations:
Probably the best analysis you can find today regarding what just happened in West Asia is this one by John Mearsheimer. It offers a perspective that Western media never reports.
Key points:
- The US and Israel lost the war against Iran. Trump’s two tweets on the same day—one declaring he would destroy Persian civilization in an hour, followed by a 180-degree turn to accept Iran’s 10-point plan as a basis for negotiations—constitute an admission of defeat. In a strange way, it has provided Trump with the off-ramp he has desperately been looking for.
- China played a critical role in persuading Iran to agree to a ceasefire and start negotiations on the very day Trump threatened destruction. Russia likely assisted.
- The only responsible stakeholders in ending this war were China and Russia. The reckless, irresponsible stakeholders were the US and Israel.
- Netanyahu was responsible for this war, having led Trump into it on the mistaken belief that the US would defeat Iran in two days, leading to a pro-American government in Iran. As the dust settles, the world will blame Israel and Netanyahu for this war.
- China and Russia sought to end the war immediately due to the serious damage to the global economy. Only these two countries—especially China—hold significant influence in Iran today.
- It is unusual for China to intervene so directly in global conflicts; they did so reluctantly, as the urgency of ending the war outweighed their preference for non-interference.
Trump has seriously damaged America’s reputation both globally and domestically.
- 15 American bases in the Middle East have been destroyed and are unlikely to be rebuilt. West Asian countries are unlikely to welcome a US return.
- JD Vance is the only US leader capable of negotiating an agreement with Iran, though it will come at a political cost due to the neoconservatives who have dominated foreign policy for 30 years. Vance opposed both the US-Israeli war on Iran and the NATO war against Russia.
- Israel is in serious trouble in Lebanon.
- The Houthis and Iran possess the power to shut down key maritime chokepoints—one linking to the Suez Canal and the other to the Persian Gulf.
- Trump’s tweets show him to be a desperate man, and he is likely to become more reckless and irrational for the rest of his presidency.
Pay serious attention to Mearsheimer’s theory of irrationality in international relations, and how states and governments work. States are rarely rational actors when it comes to projecting their own national interests.

A NOTE From THUPPAHIYAaaa, 11 April 2026
I have taken the liberty of highlighting parts of this highly significant ANALYSIS even though I have no expertise in this arena. It would help if this Author presents a map of the arena with a focus on the US bases that have been destroyed.

A correction needs to be made to the last paragraph concerning
Mearsheimer’s theory of rationality in states. While some theorists might argue states are irrational, Mearsheimer says the opposite. The theory is more complex. The following correction came too late as my notes above were posted before i could correct them.
Mearsheimer argues that states can be rational yet still make catastrophic choices, depending on the theoretical position of their leaders. He contends that Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was a rational act, even if critics view it as a strategic or moral error. From Putin’s perspective, NATO’s eastward expansion posed an existential threat, and he launched a preventive war to ensure Ukraine remained a neutral buffer rather than a member of the alliance.
While one might argue the decision was illegal or disastrous, Mearsheimer insists it was rational because it was based on a credible theory of international relations—specifically, realism. In his framework, states are rational if they base policies on plausible theories and reach decisions through a robust, deliberative process.
He similarly argues that while many European policies are misguided, they are not necessarily irrational. A prime example is NATO expansion; while realists opposed it, predicting it would provoke a Russian reaction, liberalists prevailed. They argued that expanding NATO would create a “zone of peace” founded on liberal theories like democracy promotion, which Mearsheimer rejects as a flawed understanding of how power works.
Conversely, Mearsheimer often categorizes certain “crusader” foreign policies, such as the U.S. push for regime change in the Middle East, as non-rational because they lack a credible causal logic for success. Ultimately, his realist position highlights that what one school of thought considers a “wrong” decision can still be a “rational” one if it follows a consistent internal logic of state survival.
From the position of an AGING STUDENT OF HISTORY & POLITICS I must say that this setof readings is insightful and enlightening. THANK YOU.

No American President can say NO to Israel.
George Marshall whose Plan rebuilt Western Europe, warned Truman against recognising the just self declared State of Israel in 1948. ( Balfour’s gift – not his to give- was a ‘homeland’ not a State)
Truman’s entire cabinet supported Marshall. Truman agreed, slunk out of the meeting and publicly endorsed the new State.
He had accepted a suitcase stuffed full of money.( literally)
Of course, his reasons for lying to his cabinet and subverting the government were far more altruistic.
Kennedy OPPOSED Israel on two fronts:
No nuclear weapons.
Jewish lobby to register as a ‘foreign agent’ to stop interference in US elections.
Did not go well for him!
Both issues were studiously ignored by Johnson and every following President. In the 1967 6 day war, the USS Liberty, .a state of the art spy ship was anchored in international waters eavesdropping on Egyptian and Israeli comms: Israel attacked the Liberty, bombing, strafing and torpedoing it. The plan was to sink it and blame Egypt. 200 odd US sailors were killed or injured before a SOS was received by the 6th fleet.
Israel said sorry! Johnson was ordered to cover up the massacre. The World learnt about the slaughter decades later!
Jewish intern Monica Lewinsky ‘blew’ Clinton in the Oval office. She gave a recording of their sex chats to Mossad.
Clinton was made to pardon Jonathan Pollard, the Israeli spy who literally unloaded a roomful of top secret US docs. The most devastating in US history till Epstein. Camp David outcomes were also influenced.
Netanyahu admitted that destroying Iran had been his wet dream for 40 years. Why would a Zionist psychopath who owns both Houses of Congress and has Trump on a leash, let Iran win?
When the ‘blood and treasure’ to reverse the trend will be expended by the US! If Iran is nuked by Israel, Trump will be ordered to own up!
Blackmail and assassinations have been Israeli State policy since 1948. Israel has shifted International political paradigms in ways that make the old order obsolete. When a tiny mid east country controls the mighty US and has power in all the world Courts, it is time to realise that IRAN is fighting for all of us!
