Charitha Senanayake & Bhatiya Perera in FACEBOOK, April 2026
Many former cricketers and athletes leave our shores because they feel they have little more to offer here, or that their contributions are not fully appreciated. Taking that next step in life and moving overseas is never easy, especially when trying to rebuild and make a career in a new environment.
Yet, many of them continue to shine, no matter where they go.
Few days back, I saw couple of them being featured on ABC for their outstanding work and contributions, something truly well deserved and proud of.
Having met and seeing some of these individuals and their families, I know that life hasn’t always been easy for them. That’s why this recognition, after all the hard work and sacrifice, is so meaningful.
Prabath Nissanka and Thilan Samaraweera are just two examples, but there are many more doing outstanding work abroad, making us all proud.
We miss you, but we are equally proud of everything you have achieved.
Keep striving, keep succeeding, and continue to justify the sacrifices you’ve made.
What we have lost has truly become Australia’s gain. Proud of you boys….
