Conclusion… or just the dramatic beginning of the Iranian warship drama,.…………………….. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/4/at-least-100-missing-after-iranian-military-ship-sinks-off-sri-lanka-coast
Off the sunny shores of Lanka, a plot worthy of a naval Netflix series unfolded….!!! Ali Khamenei’s sailor boys were heading home after a naval exercise in India. On their way or called back “ගෙදර යන ගමන්” (on the way home) they reportedly had an unexpected roadside check at sea….courtesy of Uncle Sam’s boys.
What happened next? An SOS call sent across the waters and guess who answered? Our own brave lads from little “Hunduwa” the ever reliable Sri Lanka Navy. Neutral waters or not, paperwork later, humanity first. Swift response. No drama. Just action.
Being from a small island (and small boats), they did what they could rescuing around 30 sailors from the chaos.
Some were saved. Some… the sea decided to keep for questioning.
Meanwhile, the big brothers from India? Hard to say…. Maybe the signal dropped. Maybe they were on a “Chai” break. Maybe they chose the ancient diplomatic strategy of “let’s mind our own business.” Future will tell….
The rescued sailors are now receiving treatment, courtesy of “Hunduwa” hospitality, because when it comes to maritime law and basic humanity, the Sri Lanka Navy doesn’t play games.
Some whispers even suggest another Iranian vessel …. was heroically towed to safety by the Navy like a broken tuk tuk being pushed to the nearest garage (yet to be confirmed)….. And now? We wait. Decisions, diplomacy, consequences, all loading…
Whatever the geopolitics behind the curtain, one thing stands clear,
Respect to the brave Sri Lankan Navy for responding promptly, professionally, and purely on humanitarian grounds, in line with international maritime law In the sea politics can float, humanity should never sink….!!!
Will all end well? that chapter is still being written…!!!

Nice post. It is possible that Lanka consulted India as this unfolds. It is a balancing act for Lanka! Great work Navy and Air Force!
