Gusty winds sweep through Colombo, bringing both chaos and joy. Amidst the flurry of leaves and scattered debris, some find exhilaration in the tempest, their faces alight with delight as they embrace the wild dance of nature. Pix by Nisal Baduge

    Rains are always welcome
However, the gusty winds are posing a threat to life and limb due the imminent possibility of the ancient trees planted in the metropolis over 100 years ago and completely unattended by the concerned authorities, crashing down. We have tragically experienced a few already – Thurstan Road, Race Course Avenue, Reid Avenue, Bullers Road and Jawatta areas are the most endangered.
A thoroughly inept administration which has mushroomed over the years has to take the total blame but is anyone responsible or answerable ?!!!!

A genuine effort to reduce those factors that bring about Climate Change is needed. All talk and no action is not helping.
