Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has been shot and is in hospital. His condition is serious. Interestingly, Sky News, without any evidence, suggested the assassination attempt on Fico was because he was good friends with Putin, and because he was opposed to sending weapons to Ukraine, and was therefore “supporting autocracies against democracies”.
We don’t know the motivation of the assasin. But this idea that because Fico was friendly with Putin means he was turning Slovakia into an autocracy is clumsy thinking, far from reality.
Fico was one of the few European leaders to be pushing back against the US, and was calling for European countries to take greater responsibility to take a different approach to resolving the war in Ukraine, rather than allowing the US to control everything which has led to a disaster. His thinking is more aligned with Victor Orban.
Meanwhile….Blinken is in Kiev telling Ukrainians they must embrace conscription if Ukraine is to have any chance of joining NATO………………
Blinken has spent every night in Kiev visiting nightclubs, and for every hour he has spent on the dance floor tripping the light fantastic, another 40 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed.
This year alone, 110,000 Ukrainians have been killed. Russia is taking more villages each day, and there’s Blinken telling Ukrainians to embrace conscription, join the army, and go to the front line and be killed so Ukraine can join NATO.
Fico has condemned EU sanctions as “senseless” which have harmed Slovakia. He also affirms diplomacy as the only pathway forward out of the crisis in Ukraine. For that, he and his government have been labelled an autocracy. Perhaps this is why he had to be assassinated.
Therefore, we may reasonably conclude,
Diplomacy = Autocracy
(Because China is a great believer in diplomacy, it is therefore an autocracy)
Democracy = War, sanctions, propaganda, lying, cheating, stealing and making counteraccusations against foes. (This is the belief system of the Wicked West.)
It is worth pausing to reflect on how the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo in June 1914 triggered World War I.

Slovakian Attorney General, Maros Zilinka, describes the attack as a display of hate and said a strong response will follow. Fico’s security personnel didn’t do a good job to protect Fico; an issue which requires an investigation.

What Haughton is trying to do with such statements is to hijack and use the attempted assasination of Fico to push a Western propaganda narrative that feeds into a justification for the assasination, i.e. this absurd Western dichotomy that “autocracies vs democracies” has led to the attempted assassination.
We don’t yet know the motives of the assassin.
Was he a lone wolf?
Was he part of a political organisation?
Was it a hate crime?
Was Ukraine involved?
It is extremely presumptuous of Haughton to make such claims. His claims only make sense if you see it as Western propaganda.
