When Steve Waugh & Jason Gillespie crashed into Each Other at Asgiriya in 1999 at Kandy ….
When Phil Hughes was felled and killed bya Bouncer from Sean Abbott on 27 November 2014 in Sydney …
Phil Hughes never regained consciosness.
Both Steve Waugh and Jason Gillespie recovered and played more international cricket.
As rumour has it, Sanath Jayasuriya phoned an SL Air Force friend and a helicopter was sent to the Bogambara Grounds in Kandy (Asgiriya being less accessible) and an ambulance with the injured cricketers was waiting there so that they could be whisked to Colombo for specialist treatment.

AND INCIDENTS all but forgotten; when Sunil Wettinuny and Duleep Mendis were felled by Geoff Thomson at the Kennington Oval in 1975
Sunil Wettimuny incapacitatedvby a yorker ….. and Duleep Meniis felled and hospitalaised bya bouncer: There does not seem to hhave beena stretcher handy. Duleep is being carried by Two other Thomains in the side: Dennis Chanmugam and Mevan Peiris, while the new batsman, Anura Tennekoon, (another Thomian) is alongside looking very, very anxious

Deliberately bowling dangerous deliveries to intimidate batsmen is still seen as acceptable, no lessons have been learned.
