Sri Lanka suffered one of its worst natural disasters with Cyclone Ditwah which brought severe floods. Numerous lives have been lost, people are missing, houses are damaged or destroyed, some roads & railway tracks can no longer be travelled on among other problems. This is troubling as Sri Lanka is still recovering from its recent economic collapse. Relating to Sri Lanka’s economy, the IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Evan Papageorgiou revealed that Sri Lanka has requested approximately 200 million USD of assistance due to Cyclone Ditwah. The IMF Executive Board is considering this request and will decide whether to approve it. In this article, I am writing suggestions for Sri Lanka’s Cyclone Ditwah recovery.

USA’s Unwitting Gift to the South

Lakshman Gunasekara in GROUNDVIEWS, 23 December 2025, with  this title “Trumpian America’s Unwitting Christmas Gift to Global South”

“Every cloud has a silver lining,” wrote English poet-philosopher and leading 17th century civil servant John Milton in one of his lesser known plays. While Milton is best known for his theological-allegorical epic poem Paradise Lost, this phrase about silver lining has become part of commonly used idiom adopted by many cultures across the world.

This Christmas do the hundreds of millions of victims of a currently rampant Western geopolitical hegemonism worldwide see any hint of a let up of this hegemonism – a hegemonism that engenders devastating wars and even genocide from Palestine and most of West Asia to Sudan, Congo, Somalia and now Venezuela?

Assange Is Back — Gunsights on Nobel Foundation

 Wikileaks Forever
WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has filed a criminal complaint against the Nobel Foundation, accusing it of misusing Nobel Peace Prize funds by awarding them to Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado, who has publicly called on the US to attack her own country. The complaint (see attached pdf), dated Wednesday and submitted to Sweden’s Economic Crime Authority and War Crimes Unit, where the Nobel Foundation is based, argues that Alfred Nobel’s will legally restricts Peace Prize funds being deployed towards purposes other than the  promotion of peace and bars their use to advance war or foreign military intervention.

Right-Wing Deployment of Bondi Attack As Multi-faceted Ideological Weapon

An Observer in a Black Sea Resort Town

Do read and digest this news item: https://www.rt.com/shows/going-underground/629792-blumenthal-venezuela-bondi-beach-attack/

The first half of this interview is more than just interesting. Max, a Jew himself  and a former Zionist radical, i.e. an insider, talks about the Bondi attack and other attacks in Australia, and how Israel is exploiting it.
He also points out the FBI are currently fabricating the threat of left-wing terrorism in order to implicate the left and justify mass repression in the United States in the same way the second Bush and Obama administrations fabricated the threat of jihadist terrorism. Over 90% of terrorist plots throughout the Obama and Bush administrations were manufactured by the FBI, according to terrorist expert Trevor Aaronson, author of the book The Terror Factory: Inside the FBI’s Manufactured War on Terrorism. ….  (See Aaronson’s public lecture on about how the FBI is much better at creating terrorists than capturing them

Aid Flows to Sri Lanka For Flood Recovery

ACL Ameer Ali in Perth, in an article in COLOMBO TELEGRAPH entitled “Ditwah, Recovery & Politics” ….

Ditwah has come and gone but the physical devastation, financial distress, economic dislocation and above all the mental and psychological wounds inflicted by the calamity would take years if not decades to heal. But it is at a time like this that the political credibility, personal integrity and tireless commitment of the country’s national leadership is put to its maximum test.

Although it is too early to pass any final judgement there are enough signs to indicate that Sri Lanka is fortunate to have Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) as its Executive President at this crucial moment. The clearest evidence to this opinion is the outpouring of financial contributions from expatriate Sri Lankans to help the government’s recovery effort.

Back Flood Relief With Political Reconciliation

Jehan  Perera in Colombo Telegraph …………………………. https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/a-better-sri-lanka-for-all/

In the present post-cyclone phase when the international community is demonstrating enormous goodwill to Sri Lanka, the lessons learnt from their own experiences, and the encouraging support they are giving Sri Lanka at present, can and must be utilised. The government under President Dissanayake has committed to a non-racist Sri Lanka in which all citizens will be treated equally. The experience of other countries, such as the UK, India, Switzerland, Canada and South Africa, show that problems between ethnic communities also require inter-community power sharing in the form of devolution of power. Countries that have succeeded in reconciling diversity with unity have done so by embedding inclusion into governance structures rather than treating it as a temporary concession.
