Palestine Tomorrow: A Bold Forecast from A Lankan Seer

A Sri Lankan Seer ……. “Compatible neighbors”

Arabs and Jews lived in relative peace in Palestine before 1948.

The Zionist movement was established by European Jews and Israel (which became a state in 1948) was a settler colonization project that served as a garrison state in the oil rich middle east for protecting the interests of the Western imperial power Britain and later USA.

The Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Contradictory Readings & A Confusing Set of ‘Pictures

Michael Roberts, …. with highlighting being my imposition

I am no expert on this scenario, but our household receives  The Australian  newspaper and have therefore been subject to its pro-Western and anti-Russian leanings (besides its manifest support for Israel). Then, I came across a Viewpoint within Facebook presented under an Anglo-Saxon name that laid bare [or seemed to lay bare] the history of Eastern Europe and recent NATO machinations in revelatory fashion. Alas, I did not register the name of the author and the item disappeared [as FB items seem to do in my experience].

Thus, I sent this comment to several friends in Sri Lanka and the West whom I considered knowledgeable in this field. A few have responded. Their responses indicate that this ARENA is a complex and confusing field of issues…. several minefields of an overlapping nature to speak metaphorically. We must tread carefully.

“Europe in Danger” — Trump Eviscerated by French Senator

Verbatim Record of Claude Malhuret’s Speech in French Senate, March 2025 **

“President, Mr. Prime Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen Ministers, My dear colleagues,
Europe is at a critical turning point in its history. The American shield is crumbling, Ukraine risks being abandoned, Russia strengthened. Washington has become the court of Nero, a fiery emperor, submissive courtiers and a ketamine-fueled jester in charge of purging the civil service.

Donald Trump caricature is seen on a trailer in Krakow, Poland on July 25, 2024. The figure, which was previously a theater prop, has been bought by local politician Lukasz Wantuch. Now he is planning to present it at Donald Trump’s campaign rallies…. Photo by Jakub Porzycki/NurPhoto via Getty Images.

Ranil’s Responses to Al-Jazeera’s Hostile Questions

Darshanie Ratnawalli

So, have you read Ranil’s Al Jazeera interview?

Has anyone who is expressing an opinion on Ranil’s performance at his interview with Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hasan ingested the full content of this media circus? Even people like Himal Kotelawala (sympathetic to RW), Lakshan Wickrema (derisive of RW) and Crystal Koelmeyer (sympathetic to RW), whom I have so far read on this subject had not.

Full-Frontal: The Trump-Zelensky Spat …… Implications

Dr. Matthew Crosston  … article in Modern Diplomacy with the title reading: “Trump vs. Zelensky: Popping the Proxy War”  …. presented here wthout the accompanying photos [tech issues]

History will likely look back on the three-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war and note that it was the beginning of the end in real terms.

After the sensationalized public breakdown between Presidents Zelensky and Trump in the Oval Office, an off-the-rails meeting now witnessed and commented on endlessly the world over, it is difficult to imagine the conflict on the Eastern front of Ukraine is going to just continue on as before.

Ethnicity and Violence in Sri Lanka: An Ethnohistorical Narrative

By Premakumara de Silva, 2019, The Palgrave Handbook of Ethnicity

Abstract: The ethnicity and violence in Sri Lanka have many root causes and consequences that are closely interconnected. Given the nature and the complexity of root causes and consequences of these highly contested concepts, it should not be treated as a part of linear historical processes where one event led to another. Sri Lanka presents case of how intersecting not only ethnicity and violence but also religion, caste, class, linguistic, and cultural mosaics have been and might be billeted within the borders of a nation-state. However, state building in Sri Lanka has been riddled with paradoxes. The curious notion of numerically dominant ethnic group, Sinhala manifesting a “minority complex” or anxieties about minority groups, Tamil and Muslims, is evident in the rise of Sinhala Buddhist nationalism during the nineteenth and the twentieth century of the country. Since state building has often meant ……….

Sachs on USA’s Hegemonic Imperialism

An Email NOTE from Ajit Varuna-Candappa sent to his Royal College classmates, mid-February 2024

https://youtu.be/ZUbBU0OqCgE?si=H084GxLxuFKm6EQp

Dear Tony & all my classmates at Royal of the 57 Group.
We have known each other for 59 years since we entered Royal at age 10+ in 1957 & some since age 6+ from Royal Primary days.  Here is a 15 minutes of absolute irrefutable evidence that we’ve been ‘jived’ by both colonial & imperialist forces at first and now a hegemonic, war mongering frankly psychopathic state called America.

The LTTE: Its Initial Founding and Funding

Dr Muralidaran Ramesh Somasunderam, in LankaWeb, 10 February 2o25, with this title The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam. Funding and Training of the Organization”

The LTTE got their training and funding from the PLO, which is the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the arms they gained or got from Pakistan. This is why the Indian Central Government was very much against the LTTE and its leadership group.

In fact, the LTTE was an organization which diversified their businesses and even sold things like oils and soups to more dangerous items such as drugs and weapons. It is true that Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora in overseas countries funded LTTE. The real fact was most of the Sri Lankan Tamils did ordinary jobs in the Western Countries and if the LTTE did not have diverse business interests and support from overseas countries, especially Palestine for tanning (sic) and Pakistan for military equipment, they would not have been able to carry out a civil war against the army of Sri Lanka for more than thirty odd years.  This is why if Kittu Master who was in the LTTE leadership group was able to smuggle the arms the government of Pakistan loaded in the ship he came on outside the port of Madras it would have been very hard to defeat and bring the LTTE down.
