The concept ARMAGEDDON denotes the idea that alludes to “the gathering of nations into one place and that one place is the destruction of this world through war.” In other words it signfiies the potential end of all human and animal life.
Seeing the headline world news live today, the question is whether Trump and his aides, supported in different ways by Netanyahu and the zealot Muslims of the Middle East, have brought the whole world within the cusp of a huge catastrophe — one that is not far removed from that associated with the atom bombs of World War Two.
Taking the long view, as an ordinary historian in an ordinary place I am disposed to raise some awesome historical THOUGHTS;
A = That Trump’s recent momentous threats to Iran are not dissimilar to the rantings on platform from Adolf Hitler, albeit different in demeanour … Because he was/is totally goal-oriented, implacable and confident about the armed power at his command.

C= Widening my reflections and taking a broad historical overview, I see ironies ….terrible ironies …. in the fact that the setting up of a haven for the persecuted Jews of Europe and the world in Palestine from 1946/47 onwards has resulted in the creation of a Jewish state locked into battle with the Muslim peoples around them in ways that have produced a NETANYAHU …. a man who does not rant and rave like that fellow, Adolf Hitler, but whose steadfastness of destructive focus is perhaps as frightening because so unassailable — the more so with Trump and USA behind his goals.
Israel is being fetishized, right now, by every far right neo-Nazi, every fascist demagogue, every authoritarian dictator, and every violent anarchist.
Israel uses extreme violence and savagery so spectacularly, shattering every International Law and Norm, without the merest consequence.
A dream that all the evil lunatics of the World were convinced could never come true.
