Dr Enakshi Sinniah from the Institute for Molecular Bioscience and Dr David Klyne from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences will join 635 young scientists from around the world at this year’s event, which will focus on Medicine and Physiology.
Established in 1951, the prestigious event offers a valuable opportunity for early-career researchers to learn from and network with 40 Nobel Laureates and to exchange knowledge and ideas.
It is the TPS assumption that this photo shows three University of Queensland doctoral awards in the year 2022 (subject to confirmation)
Dr Sinniah is researching stem cells and cardiovascular development, and Dr Klyne is investigating why chronic pain develops and how to prevent it.
Their participation in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings is supported through a fellowship by the Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) and administered by the Australian Academy of Science (AAS).
The SIEF–AAS Fellowship will enable Dr Klyne and Dr Sinniah to attend the distinguished event and take part in the SIEF Research Innovation Tour in Berlin, with some of Germany’s finest research and development facilities related to medicine and physiology on showcase.

Enakshi is the daughter of the Trinitian Travis Sinniah and Thiruni Ramanaden. Sinniah ended his illustrious career as the Commodore of the SL Navy.
Thiruni Ramanaden (also spelt “Ramanathan” at times) is the daughter of Charlie Ramanaden (ex-Peradeniya University who was struck down way back by a heart attack when playing tennis in a Dickoya plantation district) and Lilani Tambimuttu of Kandy and Peradeniya University. She is a scientist in her own right and pursued pioneering research on the forest primate known as the loris when she was based in Kandy in the 1980s
