High-Ranking Sri Lankan Batsmen

Hiran Hewavisenti, in https://www.facebook.com/

Not one but TWO Sri Lankans – recently appointed vice captain Kamindu Mendis and former skipper Dinesh Chandimal – feature in the top 10 of the latest test batters’ rankings released by the ICC

Bodes well for Sri Lanka as both will pad up to play the two test series against the Windies in a couple of weeks, and with Sri Lanka in third place in the 2025-27 World Test Championship table and a chance to move up to second place and vie for an appearance in the final next year

Let’s hope they do well. With Pathum at 14, DDS 29 and Kusal 32, hopefully a formidable batting unit to put pressure on the WI bowling. Let’s hope the other two batters contribute from the get-go too. Not quite sure how the SL bowling attack will hold up. Would it be Milan and two other pacies, with one specialist spinner?

RESPONSES

Kumar Fernando Yes, the batting is strong, on paper at least, although the additional two batters will have to chip in. I’d like to see Lahiru, Asitha and Prabath, plus Milan and another pace bowler – I’d say fairly strong but let’s see.

A NOTE …. PS:

“Batsmen” NOT “batters” ….. because the latter is a form of food
