Dr. Kumari Jayawardena Felicitated For Her Academic Attainments

The Alumni Association of University of Colombo organized a felicitation ceremony today (June 2nd) to honor Dr. Kumari Jayawardena, who has made an incomparable contribution to the transformative development of the social, political, intellectual, and academic fields of our country. Dr. Kumari Jayawardena was one of the pioneers of Sri Lanka’s feminist movement and her role as a public intellectual, as an academic and her political journey have contributed to revolutionize the labor and women’s movements in the country.

The keynote address of the felicitation ceremony was delivered by the Emeritus Professor Jayadeva Uyangoda.It was an honor to play a tiny part in the success of the ceremony.
අප රටේ සමාජ, දේශපාලන, බුද්ධිමය සහ අධ්‍යයන ක්ෂේත්‍රවල පරිවර්තනීය සංවර්ධනයට අසමසම දායකත්වයක් ලබා දුන් ආචාර්ය කුමාරි ජයවර්ධන මහත්මියට උපහාර දැක්වීම සඳහා කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමය අද (ජුනි 2) උපහාර උත්සවයක් සංවිධානය කළ අතර. ආචාර්ය කුමාරි ජයවර්ධන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ස්ත්‍රීවාදී ව්‍යාපාරයේ පුරෝගාමීන්ගෙන් කෙනෙකු වන අතර මහජන බුද්ධිමතෙකු ලෙස, ශාස්ත්‍රඥවරියක ලෙස ඇයගේ භූමිකාව සහ ඇගේ දේශපාලන ගමන රටේ කම්කරු හා කාන්තා ව්‍යාපාරවල විප්ලවීය වෙනසක් ඇති කිරීමට දායක වී තිබේ.
මෙම උපහාර උත්සවයේ දී ආරධිත දේශනය පැවැතවූවේ සම්මානිත මහාචාර්ය ඡයදේව උයන්ගොඩ මහතා විසිනි.
උත්සවයේ සාර්ථකත්වයට සුළු කාර්යභාරයක් ඉටු කිරීමට ලැබීම ගෞරවයක් හැටියට සලකමි.
நமது நாட்டின் சமூக, அரசியல், அறிவுசார் மற்றும் கல்வித் துறைகளின் உருமாற்ற மேம்பாட்டிற்கு ஈடு இணையற்ற பங்களிப்பை ஆற்றியுள்ள டாக்டர் குமாரி ஜெயவர்தன அவர்களைக் கௌரவிக்கும் வகையில், கொழும்புப் பல்கலைக்கழக முன்னாள் மாணவர் சங்கம் இன்று (ஜூன் 2ஆம் தேதி) ஒரு பாராட்டு விழாவை ஏற்பாடு செய்தது. டாக்டர் குமாரி ஜெயவர்தன இலங்கையின் பெண்ணிய இயக்கத்தின் முன்னோடிகளில் ஒருவராகத் திகழ்வதுடன் ஒரு பொது அறிவுஜீவியாகவும், கல்வியாளராகவும் அவரது பங்களிப்பும், அவரது அரசியல் பயணமும் நாட்டில் தொழிலாளர் மற்றும் பெண்கள் இயக்கங்களில் புரட்சியை ஏற்படுத்தப் பங்களித்துள்ளன

இந்தப் பாராட்டு விழாவில் பேராசிரியர் ஜெயதேவ உயங்கோட அவர்கள் சிறப்புரை ஆற்றினார்.
